New Delhi, 17th August. In a heartwarming gesture of sibling love, members of the transgender community tied rakhi to Vishnu Mittal, General Secretary of the Delhi BJP, during a Raksha Bandhan celebration organized at the Saraswati Educational Society, Meet Nagar.
Mittal, while addressing the gathering, highlighted the equal emotional bond that the transgender community shares, just like any other man or woman in society. “They are just like us,” he said, emphasizing that the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recognized the transgender community and even honored them with Padma awards. He praised the government’s clear stance against discrimination towards the community.
The event, filled with enthusiasm, saw the transgender community tying rakhis on Mittal’s wrist, symbolizing love and protection. Mittal expressed his happiness, saying, “It was a great experience to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with the transgender community, promoting social harmony and unity.” He added that he was deeply touched by the affection, warmth, and respect shown by the community.
Mittal also lauded the growing participation and success of the transgender community in mainstream society, calling it a matter of pride for everyone.
The event was organized by a pan-India organization dedicated to health education and women empowerment in collaboration with the “Aao Saath Chalein” foundation. A large number of people working in the social sector attended the program, underscoring the importance of inclusion and unity in society.
