Ahmedabad, 22nd June. Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Friday e-inaugurated 30 smart schools in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, marking a significant stride towards enhancing educational infrastructure in the region. These schools have been developed by the Ahmedabad Municipal School Board at a cost of Rs 36 crore under the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 brought by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The inauguration ceremony, attended by dignitaries including Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, highlighted the strategic placement of these schools across key constituencies like Ghatlodiya, Vejalpur, Naranpura, and Sabarmati. Shah emphasized that these institutions will directly benefit over 10,000 children, bringing them closer to the benefits envisaged by the NEP.
“These 30 smart schools represent a commitment to holistic education,” stated Shah. “They integrate skill development, vocational training, and digital empowerment within their curriculum, alongside modern facilities like Mathematics and Science Laboratories, Future Classrooms, and 3-D Educational Charts.”
Reflecting on the broader impact, Shah underscored the government’s dedication to educational excellence across Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, where 59 out of 69 schools have now been upgraded to smart schools, with plans to transform the remaining soon.
Addressing his first major program post the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in his constituency, Shah expressed gratitude to the voters for their trust. “My priority remains the upliftment of children from marginalized backgrounds,” he affirmed, outlining his commitment to ensuring Gandhinagar emerges as a beacon of development over the next five years.
The event also acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s global leadership in promoting Yoga.
Shah recalled PM Modi’s initiative at the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, which led to the declaration of June 21 as International Yoga Day, now celebrated globally. “Yoga is not just an exercise but a pathway to integrate body, mind, and soul,” emphasized Shah, praising its universal adoption as a lifestyle choice.
Acknowledging Gujarat’s role in promoting Yoga, Shah commended the state’s efforts, including integrating Yoga into academic curricula and forming dedicated boards.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s advocacy has propelled Yoga onto the global stage, uniting millions in its practice,” he remarked.
The inauguration of these 30 smart schools marks a pivotal moment in Gujarat’s educational landscape, aligning with national priorities under the NEP 2020 and reinforcing the state’s commitment to holistic learning.
