Beawar– A toxic gas leak from a chemical tanker parked at an illegally operated factory in Beawar’s Badiya locality led to the deaths of three people, including the factory owner, and left over 50 others sick, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
District Collector Mahendra Khadgawat said the leak of nitric acid occurred late Monday night in a residential area, causing severe health complications among locals. The situation was brought under control in time, he added.
Superintendent of Police Shyam Singh reported that several affected residents were rushed to hospitals after experiencing breathing difficulties. Factory owner Sunil Singhal (47) succumbed on Monday night, while Dayaram (52) and Narendra Solanki died on Tuesday.
Medical officials stated that two critically ill patients are receiving treatment at JLN Hospital in Ajmer. Many others complained of chest pain, vomiting, and respiratory distress.
Authorities have evacuated the area surrounding the factory as a precautionary measure. Collector Khadgawat has ordered a survey of unauthorized factories in the district, with a committee comprising officials from the Nagar Parishad, revenue department, and police set to investigate and take necessary action.
