Pilibhit, 23rd Dec. In a major crackdown on terrorism, a joint team of Uttar Pradesh and Punjab Police neutralized three dreaded Khalistani terrorists in an early morning encounter near the Hardoi Branch Canal in the Puranpur area of Pilibhit district on Monday.

The terrorists, identified as members of the Khalistan Commando Force, were involved in a recent grenade attack on a Gurdaspur police post, according to police sources. The encounter, which occurred around 5 a.m., led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles and two pistols from the site.

Additional Director General (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash confirmed the operation’s success, saying, “This coordinated effort between Punjab and UP Police is a significant step in dismantling Khalistani terror networks.”

The slain terrorists were identified as:

  • Pratap Singh (23), a resident of Shahnoor Khurd Kalanaur, Gurdaspur
  • Virender Singh (23), from Kalanaur under Aishban police station
  • Gurvinder Singh (20), of Budhipur Kalanaur, Gurdaspur

All three were wanted in connection with the attack on the Gurdaspur police post and were deemed highly dangerous by security agencies.

The operation wasn’t without resistance. Two Uttar Pradesh police constables, Sumit Rathi from Madhotanda Police Station and Mohammad Shahnawaz of the Special Operations Group (SOG), sustained injuries during the exchange of fire. Both have been admitted to the hospital and are undergoing treatment.

Senior police officials from both states have launched an investigation into the incident, aiming to uncover further links in the Khalistani terror network. The successful operation underscores the ongoing vigilance of law enforcement in combating threats to national security.
