Porbandar, 6th Jan. An Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) MK-III of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) tragically crashed on the runway of Porbandar Airport, Gujarat, at approximately 12:15 PM on January 05, 2025 during a routine training sortie.
The helicopter was carrying two pilots, Commandant (JG) Saurabh and Deputy Commandant SK Yadav, along with aircrew diver Manoj Pradhan Navik. Following the incident, all three crew members were immediately rushed to the Government Hospital in Porbandar, where they were declared brought dead.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by a Board of Inquiry. Authorities are working to determine the factors that led to this unfortunate incident.
The mortal remains of the crew members will be laid to rest with full service traditions and honors. The loss of these dedicated personnel has deeply saddened the Indian Coast Guard and the nation.
The ALH MK-III is an advanced, indigenous helicopter widely used by the Indian Coast Guard for maritime surveillance, search-and-rescue operations, and training missions. The incident underscores the risks faced by defense personnel in the line of duty.
The Indian Coast Guard has extended its condolences to the families of the deceased and assured full support in this difficult time.
