As he launched 100 ‘kisan drones’ in various regions of the country for spraying pesticides and other farm products, Prime Minister NarendraModi expressed optimism that India’s developing competence in the drone sector will provide the world with new leadership.

The Prime Minister stated in his speech that India is preparing for a new culture of drone start-ups. Their numbers will soon reach thousands, up from over 200 presently, resulting in a tremendous increase in job prospects.

On 18 February, Modi introduced the drones, which authorities described as a “very new and interesting project” for farmers.

The Prime Minister stated in his speech that India is preparing for a new culture of drone start-ups. Their numbers will soon reach thousands, up from over 200 presently, resulting in a tremendous increase in job prospects.

He stated that his government will ensure that there are no impediments to the sector’s development and that various reforms and policy measures have already been implemented to support its growth. This is an example of how high the country can fly if regulations are in place, Modi added, noting that drones were formerly connected with the defense sector.

This is a new chapter in providing modern farming facilities in the 21st century, and not only will it prove to be a milestone in the development of the drone sector but also open infinite possibilities, he said.

The Prime Minister said his government did not waste time on apprehensions about opening up the drone sector but trusted India’s young talent and moved ahead with a new mind-set. He said his government has given priority to technology and innovations in the Budget and policy measures.

Noting that drones have diverse usages, Modi said, they have been used in the ‘SwamitvaYojana’ aimed at creating a record of land ownership in villages and transporting medicines and vaccines.

He claims that ‘kisan drones’ are the start of a new revolution. Farmers will be able to deploy high-capacity drones in the future to carry their produce, such as fruits, vegetables, and flowers, to markets in record time, increasing their income.
