Manipur Assembly Election Results 2022, Manipur Election Vote Counting Updates in Real Time: The counting of votes begins; the ruling BJP, led by sitting chief minister N Biren Singh, is seeking a second consecutive term, while the opposition Congress is depending on the charisma of former three-time chief minister O Ibobi Singh to reclaim power in the state.
Manipur is currently counting. According to early trends, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leads in 26 assembly constituencies, while the opposition Congress and its allies hold 13 seats. Chief Minister N Biren Singh leads opponent Congress candidate Pangeijam Saratchandra Singh by almost 17,000 votes in the Heingang assembly constituency.
The Congress Party, which won 28 seats in the 2017 Assembly elections to become the single-largest party, is now leading in only three seats. Former Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh is facing a tough struggle in the Thoubal constituency, where he is only 2000 votes ahead of his BJP opponent. According to Election Commission data as of 12 p.m., other parties performed better than last time.
According to EC data, the National People’s Party leads in six seats, while the Naga People’s Front leads in five.

Exit polls on Monday indicated a comfortable victory for the BJP with a higher vote total. Manipur’s assembly elections 2022 were held in two phases, with the first phase consisting of 38 seats on February 28 and the second phase consisting of the remaining 22 seats on March 3. While 78 % of voters participated in the first round, 84% participated in the second phase.
Among the major candidates are Chief Minister and BJP candidate N Biren Singh from the Heingang seat, Speaker Y Khemchand Singh from the Singjamei seat, and Deputy Chief Minister and NPP candidate Yumnam Joykumar from the Uripok seat.
Former three-time chief minister O Ibobi Singh and ex-deputy CM Gaikhangam Gangmei are running for the Nambol seat, as is state Congress president N Lokesh Singh.
The BJP currently holds a 30-seat lead, while the National People’s Party, which is now in second place, holds a 10-seat edge. The Congress party now holds an eight-seat majority.
In Phungyar, the BJP’s AWUNG SHIMRAY HOPINGSON leads the NPF’s LEISHIYO KEISHING by 674 votes.
In the Lilong constituency, Y. Antas Khan of the BJP is leading JD (UMohd )’s Abdul Nasir by 423 votes.
Okram Joy Singh of the Congress leads Karam Shyam of the BJP by 1081 votes in the Langthabal seat.
In Kangpokpi, BJP’s Nemcha Kipgen leads Congress’ Ngamkhohen Kipgen by 3146 votes.
According to Election Commission data, the Bharatiya Janata Party is ahead in Manipur’s Heirok Assembly constituency.
According to preliminary results, the BJP is leading in 17 seats, the Congress+ in 14 seats, while the NPF, NPP, and others are leading in 2 seats apiece.
Chief Minister and BJP nominee N Biren Singh, Assembly Speaker Y Khemchand Singh, Deputy Chief Minister and NPP candidate Yumnam Joykumar, Manipur Congress president N Lokesh Singh, and former three-time chief minister O Ibobi Singh are among the prominent contenders (Congress).
According to an election official, the entire counting process will be overseen by 41 General Observers in addition to the Returning Officers.
