Hyderabad, 3rd Oct. Telugu film industry stars have united in condemning Telangana Minister Konda Surekha’s controversial comments linking Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader KT Rama Rao to the divorce of actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
Veteran actor Chiranjeevi expressed his dismay in a post on X (formerly Twitter), calling the remarks “disgraceful” and criticizing the minister for dragging celebrities into political matters.
Chiranjeevi emphasized the film industry’s unity against such verbal assaults and urged politicians to set a better example.
“It’s a shame that public figures become soft targets for instant attention,” he said, calling for the minister to retract her comments.
Joining the chorus, Jr NTR, the popular actor of RRR fame, condemned the remarks, stating that dragging personal lives into politics is a “new low.” He stressed that public figures, especially those in responsible positions, must respect privacy and maintain dignity.
Nagarjuna Akkineni, veteran actor and Naga Chaitanya’s father, also spoke out, calling the minister’s allegations “irrelevant and false.” He demanded an immediate retraction, while Naga Chaitanya himself expressed deep pain over the baseless rumors surrounding his divorce, asking that their personal decision be respected.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu, addressing the controversy, stated that her divorce was a mutual and private matter, with no political conspiracy involved. She urged the minister to refrain from speculating about her personal life, emphasizing the importance of respecting women in the industry.
Amid the backlash, Konda Surekha issued a clarification, stating that her comments were not meant to hurt Samantha but to highlight KT Rama Rao’s alleged actions against women. However, KT Rama Rao has since sent a defamation notice, accusing the Congress of “disgusting and nauseating politics.”
