Telangana Women’s Cooperative Hosts Awareness Conference on Literacy and Empowerment

 The Telangana Fisheries Women’s Cooperative Society, Hyderabad, organized a Women’s Awareness Conference in light of the United Nations declaring 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives and the Indian government’s goal of achieving 100% literacy by 2030.

With women comprising 50% of the population but facing higher illiteracy rates, the conference emphasized peer-driven literacy, skill training, and self-reliance through cooperative groups. Ms. Surekha Khot, member of the Maharashtra State Industrial Women’s Cooperative Federation, the Indian National Cooperative Union, and the Indian Adult Education Association, highlighted their operational frameworks and the role of cooperative institutions in empowering women economically and socially.

Ms. Sunita Mangalapale, Chairperson of the Women’s Cooperative, welcomed the dignitaries, while Ms. Rajni Devi delivered the vote of thanks.

A total of 130 women representatives benefited from the event, which concluded with the national anthem.
