GG News Bureau
Hyderabad, 17th Nov. The Telangana government on Sunday announced a key move to promote electric vehicles (EVs) in the state, offering 100% exemption from road tax and registration fees for EVs purchased and registered in Telangana. This exemption will be applicable for a period of two years, until December 31, 2026.

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar confirmed the decision and stated that the new policy, which comes into effect on November 18, is part of the state’s efforts to make Hyderabad a pollution-free city.

The Government Order (GO) 41 covers a wide range of electric vehicles, including two-wheelers, four-wheelers, electric passenger vehicles such as taxis, private cars, electric auto-rickshaws, electric light goods carriers, electric tractors, and electric buses. The exemption will be extended to electric buses operated by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) for their entire lifespan.

Additionally, the exemption will apply to buses owned by any industry for exclusive use in transporting their own employees, provided the buses are not used for commercial purposes.
