Hyderabad, 6th Dec. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday announced plans to transform one crore women self-help group (SHG) members into “crorepatis” by engaging them in diverse business initiatives. Speaking at the inauguration of the “Indira Mahila Shakti Bazar” for women SHGs, alongside Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, the Chief Minister emphasized his government’s focus on women’s welfare and empowerment.
Highlighting ongoing initiatives, Reddy outlined schemes such as free travel for women in state-run buses, subsidized LPG cylinders at ₹500, free electricity up to 200 units for the underprivileged, and “Indira Mahila Shakti” canteens. Additionally, solar power plants are being allocated to SHGs to promote economic independence.
Currently, SHGs in the state comprise 65 lakh members. “It is your responsibility to grow this number to one crore. It is my responsibility to ensure one crore (women) become crorepatis,” Reddy said.
The Chief Minister further announced plans to visit all 33 districts in the state next year—covering the 10 undivided districts—and hold meetings with one lakh women in each district.
Governor Jishnu Dev Varma commended the women SHG members, expressing hope that they will emerge as leaders in the country.
