New Delhi, 12th April. The Enforcement Directorate office in Delhi questioned Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav for nine hours on Tuesday in a money laundering case related to the alleged land-for-jobs scam.
Yadav said as he was leaving the ED office, “I have been saying it from the beginning that all of this is for the 2024 elections. If I have done nothing wrong, then what can they question me about?”
Tejashwi Yadav, the 33-year-old son of RJD chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, arrived at the federal probe agency’s office in central Delhi around 10:45 a.m. In this case, he was questioned by the CBI last month.
The ED raided his Delhi residence shortly after Holi, claiming that searches at 24 locations resulted in the recovery of a large sum of unaccounted cash and other valuable belongings.
Yadav responded by saying the agency found “zero” seizures and challenged them to make the list public. He also accused the BJP of “spreading rumours” and “planting news.”
Yadav and his family members are accused of buying land at rock-bottom prices in exchange for jobs while his father, RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav, served as Union Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009.
According to the Enforcement Directorate, the current market value of land allegedly acquired by Lalu Yadav’s family in exchange for jobs when he was Railway Minister is around Rs 200 crore.
Furthermore, the CBI, which is investigating criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery, and corruption charges in the case, alleges in its charge sheet that “irregular appointments” were made in the Railways in violation of rules.
Yadav and RJD leaders, as well as their ally and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, have dismissed the ED allegations as politically motivated.
