Chennai, 7th August.
Tamil Nadu paid homage to the late DMK president and former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on the sixth anniversary of his death on Wednesday. The tribute was led by Karunanidhi’s son and current Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who orchestrated a peace march with party members in honor of the Dravidian leader.

The tribute began with Stalin and his party paying floral respects to a decorated portrait of Karunanidhi at the Omandurar Government Estate, where a statue of the leader stands. Following this, Stalin visited Karunanidhi’s memorial at the Marina to lay additional floral tributes.

Accompanying Stalin were his sister, Lok Sabha MP Kanimozhi, his son and state minister Udhayanidhi, senior cabinet colleagues, and other prominent DMK leaders. Many party members donned black attire as they chanted slogans celebrating Karunanidhi’s legacy.

Stalin also paid respects at the memorial of DMK founder and former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai at the Marina. Karunanidhi, who passed away in 2018 at the age of 94, was a pivotal figure in Tamil Nadu politics, serving as Chief Minister five times and leading the DMK for nearly fifty years.
