Tamil Nadu CM Condoles Deaths in Dindigul Hospital Fire, Announces ex-gratia

Chennai, 13th Dec. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday expressed condolences over the tragic death of six people, including a minor girl, in a fire at a private hospital in Dindigul district. The victims, which included two individuals from Theni district, reportedly suffocated to death after being trapped in a lift during the incident on Thursday night.

The Chief Minister announced an ex-gratia of ₹3 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund (CMPRF). He also pledged ₹1 lakh for individuals under intensive care and ₹50,000 for those with minor injuries.

Stalin assured that the injured are receiving the best medical treatment at nearby government and private hospitals. Official sources stated that three people remain in the ICU.

The fire, which broke out at around 9:30 PM on Thursday, resulted in severe casualties as the victims were found unconscious in the hospital lift and later declared dead by doctors. Police and fire officials confirmed that suffocation was the primary cause of death.
