New Delhi, 9th Feb. Amidst the political upheaval in Delhi following AAP’s massive defeat in the 2025 Assembly elections, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal visited the Prachin Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place on Monday, accompanied by her mother, Sangeeta Maliwal. The visit was an emotional moment for Maliwal, as she reflected on the struggles she endured over the past year and emphasized that truth always prevails.
“Truth Always Prevails,” Says Maliwal
Speaking to IANS after offering prayers, Maliwal described the challenges and isolation she faced in the past year, noting that faith had given her the strength to persevere.
“The past year has been one of great struggle. We have faced many challenges, and there has been a lot of loneliness and hardship. It has been a tough time, and only God has been with us through it all. I believe that it is my faith in God that has allowed us to receive such a great blessing to fight this battle of truth,” she said.
Choosing not to comment on Atishi’s resignation as Delhi’s Chief Minister, Maliwal instead focused on her personal journey of resilience and faith.
Her mother, Sangeeta Maliwal, praised her daughter’s determination, stating that despite facing difficulties and political opposition, she had never strayed from her values.
“My daughter has faced many difficulties, fought against many, but she never gave up. I have always guided my children to follow the path of truth, and I would like her to continue to fight for the people of Delhi, staying true to the cause of righteousness,” she remarked.
Political Landscape Shifts as BJP Reclaims Delhi
Maliwal’s visit to the temple comes at a crucial time for AAP, which suffered a massive electoral defeat on Saturday as the BJP stormed to power, winning 48 out of 70 seats. The landslide victory marked the end of AAP’s decade-long dominance in Delhi, with Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and several other senior AAP leaders losing their seats.
This election result signals a major shift in public sentiment, as BJP’s campaign focused on governance, infrastructure, and accountability, while AAP’s model of freebies and welfare schemes failed to resonate as strongly as in previous elections.
For BJP, this victory is a long-awaited return to power, after back-to-back defeats in 2015 and 2020. Now, with a decisive mandate, the party is preparing to implement its governance vision for the capital, ushering in a new political era in Delhi.
As the AAP leadership grapples with its electoral loss, figures like Swati Maliwal are reflecting on their individual journeys, seeking spiritual strength as they navigate uncertain political futures.
