New Delhi, 21st May. AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal has vehemently refuted allegations leveled against her, asserting that she has become a target of a smear campaign orchestrated by Delhi ministers. Maliwal’s comments come in response to accusations labeling her as a “BJP agent” after she filed a complaint against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar.
Addressing the unfolding situation, Maliwal disclosed, “Until I filed a complaint against Bibhav Kumar, I was referred to as ‘Lady Singham’, but today I am being unjustly branded as a ‘BJP agent’ by Delhi ministers.” She clarified the circumstances surrounding an FIR lodged against her eight years ago, emphasizing that the case was baseless and subsequently stayed by the High Court.
The controversy dates back to 2016 when the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) filed a charge sheet against Maliwal, alleging irregularities in appointments within the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW). Maliwal countered these claims, asserting that the accusations were politically motivated and aimed at tarnishing her reputation.
Expressing concern over the escalating smear campaign, Maliwal accused the ruling party of deploying a concerted troll army against her. “They’re resorting to tactics such as leaking personal videos and divulging sensitive information about my relatives, putting their lives at risk,” she lamented.
Undeterred by the onslaught of accusations, Maliwal affirmed her commitment to seeking justice through legal recourse. “I will not hesitate to take legal action against every falsehood propagated against me,” she asserted.
The recent escalation in tensions stems from Maliwal’s decision to file an FIR against Bibhav Kumar for alleged assault during a visit to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence. Kumar has since been taken into police custody.
