Imphal, 6th Sept. Suspected militants launched a bomb attack in Bishnupur district, Manipur, on Friday morning, damaging at least two structures, according to police.
Rockets were fired from elevated positions in the nearby hill areas of Churachandpur district towards the residential locality of Tronglaobi, about 45km from Imphal. The rockets had an estimated range of over 3km.
The attack caused damage to a local community hall and an empty room, but fortunately, there were no reported injuries.
The militants also fired several rounds towards Bishnupur, prompting a retaliatory response from security forces.
Tensions in the region had already been heightened the previous night when multiple drones were spotted hovering just meters above Kumbi village, near Tronglaobi.
