Surprising U- Turn of Ex BJP MP Babul Supriyo, Joins TMC after Announcement of Retirement from Politics

Kolkata, 18th Sep. Ex BJP MP and Former Minister Babul Supriyo today joined Trinamool Congress. Babul Supriyo joined the TMC in the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee.
In July, Babul Supriyo suddenly resigned from the BJP and announced his retirement from politics. But after about a month, Babul Supriyo surprised everyone by joining the Trinamool Congress.
After joining TMC, Babul Supriyo held a press conference and said, “I meant it from my heart when I said I’ll leave politics. However, I felt there was a huge opportunity that was entrusted upon me (on joining TMC). All my friends said my decision to leave politics was wrong and emotional.”

On the question of campaigning for Mamta Banerjee in Bhawanipur, Babul said that I do not think didi needs my campaign. If asked to do, I will definitely do it. I want to serve the public.
Babul Supriyo said that Didi and Abhishek have given me a big opportunity. I entered politics only because of Asansol. I will do whatever I can for the people here.
Information about Babul Supriyo joining the party was issued on behalf of TMC in a statement. The statement said, “Former Union Minister and sitting MP from Asansol Babul Supriyo has joined TMC in the presence of TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien. We welcome him to the party.”
This decision of Babul Supriyo has surprised everyone. Significantly, in July, he had announced his retirement from politics while resigning from the BJP. He wrote on Facebook post that there is no need to be in politics to serve the public. He can fulfill his purpose even by staying away from politics, but suddenly by joining Trinamool Congress, he surprised everyone.
On one hand BJP is surprised but on the other hand many TMC leaders have expressed their happiness. TMC leader Kunal Ghosh said that many BJP leaders are in touch with TMC leadership. They are unhappy with the BJP. One (Babul Supriyo) has joined today, another leader wants to join TMC tomorrow. This process will go on, wait and see.
