Prayagraj, 22nd Jan. Renowned philanthropist and writer Sudha Murty actively participated in the Maha Kumbh Mela, showcasing her devotion and humility. During her three-day visit, she helped serve Mahaprasad to devotees at the ISKCON camp in Prayagraj.

Dressed in a green saree and carrying a black bag, Ms. Murty was seen at the food counter distributing chapattis to pilgrims. She also toured the ISKCON Mahaprasadam Kitchen, interacting with volunteers and observing the preparation of food using modern machinery.

The ISKCON kitchen, located in Sector 19 of the Maha Kumbh Mela area, is a large-scale operation supported by the Adani Group. It produces and distributes Mahaprasad to over 40,000 devotees daily. Equipped with advanced facilities, the kitchen features boilers for cooking rice and vegetables, tracks for transporting heavy containers, and machines capable of making 10,000 rotis per hour.

Ms. Murty, who arrived in Prayagraj on Monday, expressed her excitement about attending the Maha Kumbh, calling it “Teerthraj.” She took holy dips at the Sangam on her first two days and plans to conclude her visit with another on the final day. Reflecting on her spiritual journey, she shared, “I am offering tarpan in the names of my grandparents, who couldn’t attend this sacred event. This experience fills me with happiness and peace.”

The Maha Kumbh Mela, a revered religious gathering, commenced on January 13 and will continue until February 26. Millions of devotees flock to the Triveni Sangam—where the Ganga, Yamuna, and mythical Saraswati rivers meet—believing the holy dip absolves their sins. The event is expected to attract over 450 million visitors, making it one of the largest spiritual congregations in the world.
