New Delhi, 16th Nov. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the deaths caused by the Mizoram stone quarry collapse.
He also announced ex-gratia from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to each deceased’s kin.
The Prime Minister’s office tweeted, “My thoughts are with those who lost their loved ones due to the tragic stone quarry collapse in Mizoram. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh would be given from PMNRF to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000.”
Three more bodies were recovered from the debris of a stone quarry that collapsed in Maudarh village in Mizoram’s Hnahthial district on Tuesday, according to Additional Deputy Commissioner Saizikpuii. So far, 11 bodies have been recovered, with one person still missing, according to the Additional Deputy Commissioner.
The BSF, Assam Rifles, NDRF, state police, and district administration are conducting a search for the remaining person’s body, the Additional Deputy Commissioner said.
Earlier in the day, the bodies of eight migrant laborers were found after being trapped when a stone quarry in Mizoram collapsed.
The BSF rescue team was immediately dispatched and arrived on Tuesday as the first response unit.
On Tuesday morning, the NDRF team arrived at the location.
