State-of-the-Art Medical Facilities Will Transform Healthcare in Bihar: Nadda

Patna, 7th Sept. Union Health Minister J P Nadda inaugurated several key healthcare projects in Bihar, marking a significant expansion in the state’s medical infrastructure.

The minister inaugurated the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology (RIO) on the campus of the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in Patna. This new facility, including an extended building constructed at a cost of approximately ₹188 crore, is the largest eye hospital in Eastern India, featuring a trauma center.

In addition to the inauguration, Nadda laid the foundation stones for multiple health projects worth ₹850 crore, including health sub-centers, an additional primary health center, a health and wellness center, and a community health center.

Nadda also inaugurated a super-speciality block at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital in Bhagalpur. Speaking at IGIMS, he emphasized the historic expansion of healthcare facilities under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, highlighting the elimination of regional imbalances in healthcare infrastructure.

Reflecting on his previous tenure as health minister, Nadda noted the progress in Bihar’s health sector since 2005 and praised the NDA government’s commitment to the state’s development.

He concluded his visit with a courtesy call on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, discussing further development plans for Bihar.
