Lucknow, 16th March.
The Samajwadi Party (SP) released a list of six candidates for Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, alongside allocating one seat to its ally Trinamool Congress (TMC).

According to the SP’s official announcement on social media, the candidates for the six constituencies are Yashveer Singh (Bijnor), Manoj Kumar (Nagina), Bhanu Pratap Singh (Meerut), Bijendra Singh (Aligarh), Jasveer Valmiki (Hathras), and Daroga Saroj (Lalganj).

Additionally, TMC leader Lalitpati Tripathi is expected to contest from the Bhadohi Parliamentary Constituency as part of the alliance agreement.

Last month, the SP forged a seat-sharing arrangement with the Congress, reserving 17 seats for the latter, including the traditional strongholds of the Gandhi family in Rae Bareli and Amethi. The move reflects the opposition alliance’s efforts to consolidate and cooperate after initial disagreements.

Despite the SP’s prior announcement of around 32 candidates before finalizing the pact with the Congress, both parties are now proceeding cautiously, maintaining secrecy regarding their strategies.

Similarly, the Congress, despite releasing two extensive lists of candidates, has yet to disclose its plans for Uttar Pradesh, particularly regarding Amethi and Rae Bareli constituencies. The demand from party workers for Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra Gandhi’s candidature in these key seats adds to the suspense.

To ensure smooth coordination between SP and Congress workers, coordination committees have been established by party leaders.
