Ranchi, 9th August. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren praised the Supreme Court’s decision to grant bail to AAP leader Manish Sisodia, calling it a “triumph for democracy” and a “defeat of dictatorship and injustice.”
The Supreme Court granted bail to Sisodia in connection with corruption and money laundering cases linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. The court noted that Sisodia had been in custody for 17 months without a trial commencing.
Soren, in a post on X, expressed gratitude to the Supreme Court and extended his congratulations to Sisodia, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi. “His struggle will become history and inspire future generations,” Soren added.
A bench of Justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan highlighted that Sisodia’s prolonged detention without trial violated his right to a speedy trial. Sisodia was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26, 2023, over alleged irregularities in the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy for 2021-22.
