New Delhi, 12th April. Kunal Bahl, the Co-founder of Snapdeal and Titan Capital, took to social media to share a cautionary tale about the potential risks associated with protein supplements. Bahl disclosed his own experience with protein supplements, which led to serious health complications for him.
In response to a recent study highlighting the potential dangers of protein powders, Bahl recounted his personal encounter with protein supplementation a few years ago. Despite opting for a well-known domestic brand, Bahl experienced significant health issues within six to eight weeks of consumption.
Fortunately, his health condition improved after discontinuing the supplements. However, Bahl emphasized the importance of caution, urging others to “please be very careful” when considering protein supplementation.
The study cited by Bahl, published in the journal Medicine, underscored the potential risks associated with protein powders, including hepatotoxicity. It revealed that protein supplements, often mislabeled and deceptive in their contents, may contain harmful substances such as heavy metals and hepatotoxic herbal extracts.
Bahl’s candid revelation serves as a timely reminder for individuals considering protein supplementation to prioritize safety and thorough research before incorporating such products into their routines.
