New Delhi, 10th August.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who was released from Tihar Jail on Friday, expressed confidence that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal would also soon be granted relief. Sisodia’s bail came after the Supreme Court’s intervention in the liquor policy case, where the Court noted his right to a speedy trial had been compromised.

Addressing the media after visiting Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place on Saturday, Sisodia, accompanied by AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Saurabh Bharadwaj, attributed his release to divine intervention, saying, “Lord Bajrang Bali has blessed me. Arvind Kejriwal also has blessings of Lord Bajrang Bali and you will see that Kejriwal ji will also be blessed in the same way.”

The Supreme Court granted bail to Sisodia in connection with cases filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) over allegations related to the Delhi excise policy scam. The Court cited Sisodia’s prolonged detention—17 months—as a key factor in its decision.

Sisodia, who was arrested by the CBI on February 26 last year for alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy, and subsequently by the ED on March 9 last year for money laundering, resigned from the Delhi cabinet on February 28, 2023. He also visited Rajghat to pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.

Expressing his gratitude to the Supreme Court, Sisodia remarked that the Court had used constitutional power to challenge what he described as “dictatorship” in the country. He voiced optimism that the same judicial power would soon lead to Kejriwal’s release.

In addition to Sisodia, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and BRS leader K. Kavitha are also implicated in the ongoing case.
