Gangtok, 7th Dec. Sikkim University has introduced a one-day menstrual leave per month for female students, as per a notification issued on December 4 by Registrar Laxuman Sharma. This decision comes in response to a representation submitted last month by the Sikkim University Students’ Association (SUSA).
According to the notification, the leave provision excludes days of university examinations. Registrar Sharma clarified that the menstrual leave availed will be adjusted against the mandatory 75% attendance requirement for eligibility to appear in semester exams.
The initiative highlights the university’s progressive approach towards addressing the needs of female students and promoting a supportive academic environment.
