Mumbai, 28th Nov. Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde expressed pride in his father, Maharashtra’s caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, for demonstrating “alliance dharma” by setting aside personal ambition for the greater good of the state. In a post on X on Wednesday night, Shrikant hailed his father’s unbreakable bond with the people of Maharashtra, emphasizing his dedication to every section of society.
This statement followed Eknath Shinde’s announcement that the Shiv Sena would support Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in naming the next Maharashtra CM, clearing the way for the BJP to lead the new government. The 60-year-old caretaker CM assured the BJP leaders that there would be no hindrance from his side regarding government formation.
Shrikant Shinde further lauded his father for keeping his faith in Modi and Shah while putting the alliance’s interests above his own, thereby setting a powerful example of selflessness. He also described Eknath Shinde as a “Common Man” who always prioritized the welfare of the people, famously opening the doors of the Varsha residence to the public.
“The power of politics may tempt many, but my father is an exception. For him, service to the nation and its people comes first, and his legacy will inspire generations to come,” said Shrikant.
The Shiv Sena’s support for the BJP in forming the new government came after the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance secured a significant win in the November 20 Maharashtra assembly elections. With Eknath Shinde confirming that Shiv Sena would not obstruct the government formation, former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, a key player in the alliance’s victory, is emerging as a leading contender for the chief ministerial post.
In the coming days, Shinde and his deputies, Fadnavis and NCP leader Ajit Pawar, are expected to meet with Shah in New Delhi to finalize the details of the new government, with plans for a formula that includes one CM and two deputy CMs, representing the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP.
