SC to Hear NEET-PG Postponement Plea on Friday

New Delhi, 8th August.
The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a plea on Friday seeking the postponement of the NEET-PG examination, scheduled for August 11. The petition argues that the cities allocated for the exam are highly inconvenient for many candidates to reach.

A bench led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud, along with Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, took note of the plea presented by lawyer Anas Tanwir on Thursday. The court has scheduled the matter for review on Friday.

The plea, filed by Vishal Soren, highlights that test cities were allocated on July 31, with specific centres to be announced on August 8. It contends that the short notice makes it challenging for candidates to arrange travel to distant locations.

While the National Testing Agency (NTA) allocated cities to prevent malpractices, the petition asserts that the limited time frame hampers candidates’ ability to make necessary travel arrangements. It requests the court to issue a writ of Mandamus directing the NTA to reschedule the NEET-PG 2024 examination.

Originally set for June 23, the NEET-PG exam was postponed by the Union Health Ministry due to alleged irregularities in competitive exams.
