SC Judges to Visit Relief Camps in Manipur for Legal and Humanitarian Support

New Delhi- Six Supreme Court judges will visit Manipur’s relief camps on March 22 to offer legal and humanitarian support to the displaced population. The visit, organized by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), includes Justice BR Gavai, Justice Surya Kant, Justice Vikram Nath, Justice MM Sundresh, Justice KV Viswanathan, and Justice N Kotiswar Singh.

Nearly two years after the May 2023 violence, which displaced over 50,000 people, the judges will inaugurate legal services and medical camps in Manipur. These camps aim to connect displaced people with government welfare programs and offer essential services, including healthcare and legal assistance.

A team of 25 specialized doctors will provide medical care at the camps for six days. NALSA has already established 273 legal aid clinics at relief centers, helping the displaced access benefits, reconstruct lost documents, and receive medical aid.
