Satish Kumar Appointed Chairman and CEO of Railway Board

New Delhi, 2nd Sept. Satish Kumar assumed office as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Railway Board on Sunday, following the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet’s approval. A distinguished 1986-batch officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME), Kumar brings over 34 years of experience to his new role.

Kumar’s career began in March 1988 and includes significant roles such as General Manager of North Central Railway, Prayagraj, and Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the Lucknow Division. His tenure is marked by contributions including the development of the Fog Safe Device, which enhances train safety in foggy conditions, and successful management of the Kumbh Mela in 2019.

An advocate of Total Quality Management (TQM), Kumar has applied these principles throughout his career, driving improvements in safety and operational efficiency. His educational qualifications include a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Operation Management and Cyber Law from IGNOU.

As Chairman of the Railway Board, Kumar is expected to lead Indian Railways towards advancements in passenger services, safety, and infrastructure development. His vision and expertise will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the railway network in India.
