New Delhi, 8th Feb. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised for a massive victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, ending Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) decade-long rule. Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the win, declaring that the “rule of lies” in Delhi has come to an end.
Shah, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), credited the BJP’s success to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and slammed AAP for its alleged failures in governance.
“The people of Delhi have worked to make the city ‘Aapda-free’ by dismantling the Sheeshmahal of lies, deceit, and corruption,” he stated.
He also attacked AAP’s governance, attributing its defeat to issues like water pollution, poor infrastructure, and the controversial excise policy. “The public has responded to the dirty Yamuna, broken roads, and liquor shops on every street with their votes,” he added.
As of 2:15 PM, BJP has secured 48 seats, while AAP trails with 22. Notably, both AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and his former deputy Manish Sisodia lost their seats, while Delhi Minister Atishi retained her Kalkaji constituency.
This marks BJP’s return to power in the capital after 26 years, setting the stage for a political shift in the national capital.
