Respect for Women Will Create a Fear-Free Society: President Murmu

New Delhi- President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the National Conference on ‘Nari Shakti Se Viksit Bharat’ in New Delhi today to mark International Women’s Day. Organized by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development, the event celebrates women’s achievements and highlights the path to gender equality.

In her address, President Murmu reflected on 50 years of International Women’s Day, emphasizing the progress made and the need for a safe and empowering environment for women. She highlighted her own journey—from a humble background in Odisha to Rashtrapati Bhavan—as an example of equal opportunities and social justice.

The President underscored the importance of increasing women’s workforce participation, noting that outdated perceptions about women’s roles in childcare hinder their professional growth. She called for societal support in creating an inclusive workforce and emphasized the crucial role of women in India’s journey to becoming the world’s third-largest economy.

Acknowledging the contributions of women pioneers like Sarojini Naidu, Rajkumari Amrit Kaur, Sucheta Kriplani, and Hansaben Mehta, President Murmu reiterated that a developed India relies on self-reliant and empowered women. She urged men to support women in achieving independence and self-esteem, ensuring their active role in national progress.
