Harrow, London, 8th August. Amid circulating social media reports about potential disorder in Harrow this evening, Bob Blackman CBE, the Member of Parliament for Harrow East, has addressed the situation with a call for calm and reassurance to residents.
In a statement released earlier today, MP Blackman confirmed that he has been in contact with both the Harrow Council and Superintendent Zubin Writer, the newly appointed Local Policing Leader for Harrow. Both authorities have assured him of an increased police presence throughout the area tonight to ensure the safety and security of all residents.
“I have full confidence in their abilities,” said Blackman. “Our diverse population and strong community cohesion have seen us through difficult times in the past, and this bond will continue to prevent hatred from disrupting our communities.”
Blackman emphasized the importance of cooperation with law enforcement and urged residents to report any suspicious activity via the Metropolitan Police’s official channels or by calling 999 in emergencies. He also advised against public demonstrations, noting that while emotions may be running high, it is crucial to allow the police to focus on maintaining order and countering any threats.
“I understand the strong emotions that residents are feeling, but it may be unhelpful to the police to demonstrate against these thugs. I urge you to remain calm, stay at home, and allow the police to deal with the disruption,” he added.
As tensions rise, MP Blackman’s message is clear: the safety and unity of Harrow’s community remain paramount, and the police are well-prepared to handle any challenges that may arise.
