Srinagar, 30th Dec. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh today held a “Public Durbar” in Ramban, Jammu & Kashmir, addressing multiple public concerns and overseeing the immediate resolution of several issues. Accompanied by senior officers from the Central government, NHAI, and the UT government, including the Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Singh took the opportunity to interact with local groups and delegations.

This marks Dr. Singh’s second such public durbar in Ramban in recent months. During the session, the Minister issued immediate instructions to concerned officers for resolving grievances and addressing public matters promptly.

In his address, Dr. Singh highlighted the significant strides made in infrastructure development in Ramban district over the past decade. He noted that previous efforts were focused on overcoming past deprivations, resuming stalled projects, and initiating ambitious new plans to improve connectivity in the region.

“The travel time from Jammu to Ramban, which once took an entire day, is now reduced to under two hours, thanks to key infrastructure projects like the Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee Tunnel,” Dr. Singh said, emphasizing the importance of such developments in transforming the region’s connectivity. He further noted that this tunnel, alongside others, has made travel significantly more convenient for locals and visitors.

Dr. Singh also spoke about the government’s commitment to enhancing facilities in rural areas through initiatives like the Prashasan Gaon Ki Aur programme, focusing on improving the grievance redressal mechanism and ensuring greater transparency in governance.

The Union Minister commended the role of Public Representatives (PRIs), acknowledging their contribution in reaching services to the grassroots level. He expressed hope that the involvement of newly elected MLAs will further strengthen the efforts to serve the people and elevate their living standards.

During the durbar, several public grievances were resolved on the spot, with Dr. Singh urging the district administration to prioritize such issues for swift resolution.
