Ayodhya, 14th Feb. Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir, was given Jal Samadhi in the sacred waters of the Saryu River. His mortal remains were tied with four sacks, each filled with 25 kg of sand, before being immersed in the river’s midstream.

Acharya Satyendra Das passed away on February 12 at the age of 80 while undergoing treatment at Lucknow’s PGI Hospital after suffering a brain hemorrhage on February 3.

His final journey began at noon, with his body placed on a chariot and accompanied by a grand procession with band music. The route passed through Lata Mangeshkar Chowk before reaching Saryu Ghat. Devotees showered flowers as a mark of respect. Given the overwhelming crowd, his procession did not pass through the Ram Mandir premises. Thousands gathered at the Saryu banks to bid him farewell.

Before the Jal Samadhi, his body was ritually bathed in the Saryu River. At Tulsi Ghat, the final rites were performed, and his remains were immersed in the river’s deep waters to prevent resurfacing.

Several dignitaries, including Union Minister Satish Sharma, Ayodhya MP Awadhesh Prasad, Jagatguru Ramanandacharya Swami Ramdineshacharya, Mahant Raghavesh Das, and Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi, attended the ceremony and paid their last respects.
