New Delhi, 30th May. Congress party on Sunday declared the names of candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections fielding Rajeev Shukla from Chhattisgarh, Ajay Maken from Haryana, and Jairam Ramesh from Karnataka.
The Congress party announced the list of 10 candidates from seven states for the elections scheduled to take place on June 10.
The party has fielded Randeep Singh Surjewala, Mukul Wasnik, and Pramod Tiwari from Rajasthan while Imran Pratapgarhi is the name from Maharashtra.
P Chidambaram, who is an MP in the Rajya Sabha, has been fielded from Tamil Nadu, while Ranjeet Ranjan has been fielded from Chhattisgarh.
The party has fielded Vivek Tankha as a candidate from Madhya Pradesh.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi has approved them as the Congress standings to contest the biennial polls to the Rajya Sabha from the states, a statement read duly signed by General Secretary, Mukul Wasnik.
The Congress is expected to get 10 Rajya Sabha seats in the upcoming poll.
G-23 leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma, who were guessed to be on the list, could not make the cut.
