New Delhi, 9th August. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday dismissed a notice submitted by AITC member Mohammed Nadimul Haque seeking a discussion on wrestler Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification at the Paris Olympics. Dhankhar stated that the notice was not in compliance with the established rules.
Upon laying the papers in the Upper House, Dhankhar addressed the issue, noting that the notice was received under Rule 267, which pertains to the suspension of regular business for discussions on urgent matters. However, Dhankhar emphasized that the notice was not submitted within the required deadline of 10 am.
“I tried to reach you. My office got in touch with you. You expressed your helplessness. I have talked to your leader. Please get in touch with him. For a change, I am doing it in the House,” Dhankhar said.
The Chairman reiterated that notices submitted outside the stipulated timeframe would not be considered. “This not being in accordance with the rules, is not accorded the sanction,” he added.
