Congress leader Geetha Reddy has confirmed that Rahul Gandhi, who is on a two-day visit to Telangana, will not be able to meet the family of Nagaraju, the Hindi youth who was brutally murdered in full public view in Hyderabad over an inter-faith marriage with his Muslim wife.
Billapuram Nagaraju, 25, of Marredpally, was stabbed to death by members of his wife’s family at the Saroornagar Tehsildar’s office on Wednesday night. Geeta Reddy reportedly told media persons outside the Gandhi Bhavan, the headquarters of the Indian National Congress Party in Nampally, Hyderabad, Telangana, where Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to meet his party workers, that meeting the deceased’s family is “not in Rahul Gandhi’s schedule.” Aside from his hectic schedule, the Congress leader cited Rahul Gandhi’s security concerns as one of the reasons he would be unable to visit Nagaraju’s family.
When asked if Rahul Gandhi would visit Nagaraju’s bereaved family, Congress leader Geeta Reddy reportedly told Times Now, “as it is his flight to Delhi is already booked, whether he would take that choice or whether he will go ahead is something that I cannot answer.”
Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, is in Telangana for two days and was scheduled to speak at a public meeting on farmers’ issues in Warangal.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla chastised the Gandhi scion for being selective in his outrage after sharing a snippet of Geeta Reddy’s conversation with reporters, which was posted by Times Now. Poonawalla tweeted, “Nagaraju killed by Muslim wife’s family,” alluding to Rahul Gandhi’s spat over the 2020 Hathras incident. Rahul Gandhi is in Hyderabad, but the Congress Party is not. Rahul will not meet Nagaraju’s family, according to Geetha Reddy. If it had been “Nizam” and if it had been in UP, he would have left his partying in Nepal to come, but Nagaraju/Hindus don’t matter to INC. It is worth noting that videos of the Congress scion presumably partying in the neighbouring country of Nepal have recently gone viral. The video was released while Amethi MP Smriti Irani was in Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi’s constituency. In the 2019 elections, Rahul Gandhi lost Amethi, the Gandhi family stronghold, to Irani.
It may be recalled that Rahul Gandhi, who appears to have no time to visit the family of Hindu youth B Nagaraju, used the Hathras case to score political points in 2020. Because the incident occurred in a BJP-ruled state, the brother and sister duo traveled to Hathras to meet the victim’s family. When their motorcade was stopped due to the imposition of Section 144 in that area, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi jumped out of their vehicle and began walking alongside scores of Congress workers, shouting slogans against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The police stopped them again while they were walking. Congress workers got into a fight with police officers who were just doing their jobs and ended up injuring a female officer. Rahul Gandhi attempted to demonstrate how he was “manhandled” by Uttar Pradesh police by falling to the ground after carefully selecting a clean location.
