Prohibitory Orders in Imphal Valley to be Relaxed for 7 Hours Daily

Imphal, 20th Nov. The prohibitory orders imposed in the five Imphal Valley districts of Manipur will be relaxed for seven hours every morning to allow residents to purchase essential items, according to notifications issued by district administrations on Wednesday.

The relaxation will be in effect from 5 am to 10 am, as outlined in similar notifications from the administrations of Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, and Kakching districts.

The notifications state that due to an improvement in law and order conditions, the movement restrictions will be eased to facilitate the purchase of food, medicines, and other essential items. However, the relaxation will not apply to large gatherings, protests, or any unlawful assembly.

Prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNSS had been enforced to restrict the gathering of five or more individuals, following rising tensions in the state after violence in the Jiribam district.
