Bhubaneswar, 3rd Oct. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said on Tuesday that the country’s investigation agencies are independent and follow the law, referring to the raids on the offices of the online portal NewsClick in Delhi.
“I need not justify the raid. If someone has done something wrong, probe agencies work on it… Nowhere is it written that if you have got money through illegal manner or done something objectionable, then probe agencies cannot investigate that,” Thakur said.
The Special Cell of the Delhi Police conducted raids on thirty locations associated with the online portal NewsClick as well as the houses of its journalists on Tuesday morning, sparking indignation among scribes.
“The probe agencies are independent and they work as per the law,” he said in response to queries at a press conference here.
According to sources, authorities recovered the dump data from the laptops and mobile phones of some NewsClick journalists.
According to Delhi Police, the continuing raids are based on a case filed on August 17 under UAPA and other sections of the IPC.
