India, New Delhi – On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India intends to build a 6G telecom network by the end of the decade, providing ultra-high speed internet connectivity.

There are currently 3G and 4G telecom networks in India, and companies are planning to launch 5G networks in the coming months.

Speaking at the TRAI’s silver jubilee event here, he stated that the 5G network rollout is expected to boost the Indian economy by USD 450 billion.
“This is not just increasing internet speed, but also the rate of development and job creation,” he said, adding that 5G technologies will improve the country’s governance, ease of living, and ease of doing business.

According to him, it will spur growth in agriculture, health, education, infrastructure, and logistics.

According to Modi, connectivity will determine the country’s progress in the twenty-first century, so modern infrastructure must be built.

A task force has begun work on deploying a 6G network by the end of the decade, according to the prime minister.

Modi slammed the previous Congress-led UPA government, saying the 2G era represented policy paralysis and corruption.
Under his administration, the country transparently transitioned to 4G and is now transitioning to 5G.

Teledensity and internet users are rapidly increasing, he said, adding that mobile manufacturing units in India have grown from two to more than 200, making the country the world’s largest mobile manufacturing hub.

The prime minister also stated that his government has encouraged healthy competition, which has resulted in India having one of the world’s lowest telecom data charges.

He added that an indigenous 5G test bed in the telecom sector is an important step toward India’s self-sufficiency.
