The President’s Office has issued a strong rebuttal to remarks made by Congress leaders regarding President Droupadi Murmu’s address to Parliament, calling them “unfortunate” and “in poor taste.”

The Congress leaders had suggested that President Murmu appeared fatigued and struggled to speak towards the end of her speech.

In response, the Rashtrapati Bhavan clarified that such claims are baseless and untrue. The statement emphasized that at no point during the address did the President show signs of tiredness.

“The President was not tired at any point. Speaking for marginalized communities, women, and farmers is never tiring for her,” the statement read.

Rashtrapati Bhavan also said that the remarks might stem from a misunderstanding of Indian languages such as Hindi, in which such expressions are often used idiomatically.

The office further condemned the remarks as “unfortunate” and stressed that they were entirely avoidable. The President’s Office urged for more respect towards the office of the President, a sentiment echoed by other political leaders as well.

This response follows growing political tensions ahead of the upcoming elections, as opposition parties continue to challenge the government’s policies and leadership.
