Presidential Election: Droupadi Murmu Files Nomination as NDA’s Candidate in Presence of PM Modi, Amit Shah

New Delhi, 24th June. Droupadi Murmu, the NDA’s presidential candidate, filed her nomination papers on Friday at the Parliament Library Building in the nation’s capital.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed her name for the nomination, which was seconded by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

At the time of her nomination filing, PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda, Union ministers, and BJP leaders Gen VK Singh (Retd), Bhupender Yadav, and Giriraj Singh were all present in the Parliament.

The Chief Ministers of all BJP-ruled states including Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan of Madhya Pradesh, Himanta Biswa Sarma of Assam among others were present during her nomination filing.

The NDA partners, Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) leader V Vijayasai Reddy and Biju Janata Dal Tukuni Sahu, BJJD MP Dr Sasmit Patra and Jagannath Saraka were also present.

Draupadi Murmu, the first female tribal leader to file a nomination for the highest constitutional position in the nation, is an experienced politician from Odisha with a strong academic background, which implies that she will uplift the tribal communities of the nation.

Former Jharkhand Governor and former minister from Odisha, Droupadi Murmu, has been named the BJP-led NDA’s presidential candidate.

On July 18, she will compete in the presidential race against Yashwant Sinha of the opposition. If elected, she will become India’s second woman president and the nation’s first tribal leader.
