President Murmu, PM Modi Extend Warm Birthday Wishes to Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on His 74th Birthday

: President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended their heartfelt greetings to Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on the occasion of his 74th birthday. Leaders across the political spectrum lauded Dhankhar’s service to the nation, his deep understanding of the Constitution, and his contributions to public life.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), President Murmu conveyed her warm wishes and admiration for the Vice President. “Hearty greetings and best wishes to @VPIndia Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji on his birthday! I wish him good health and very many years in the service of the nation,” she wrote.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to X to highlight Dhankhar’s constitutional acumen and his dedication to parliamentary proceedings. “Greetings to our Vice President, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji on his birthday. He is blessed with tremendous knowledge of our Constitution, reflecting from his years of work as a leading lawyer. He has made commendable efforts to boost the productivity of the Rajya Sabha. His interest towards serving society is also immense. May he lead a long and healthy life,” PM Modi posted.

Born on August 11, 1951, in Kithana village in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district, Jagdeep Dhankhar has had a distinguished legal and political career. Starting as a Senior Advocate in the High Court, he transitioned to the Supreme Court in 1990, specializing in areas such as steel, coal, mining, and international commercial arbitration.

Dhankhar entered politics in 1989 when he was elected to the Lok Sabha from Jhunjhunu. He later served as the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs in 1990. His political journey also took him to the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly in 1993, representing Kishangarh in Ajmer district. In July 2019, he was appointed as the Governor of West Bengal, before assuming the office of Vice President and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha in 2022.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh joined other leaders in extending birthday wishes, praising Dhankhar’s constitutional knowledge and commitment. “Warm wishes to @VPIndia, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar ji on his birthday. Known for his amazing knowledge of Indian Constitution he is also admired for his wisdom and tenacity. Our nation is grateful for his tireless efforts and vision. May he be blessed with a long and healthy life,” Singh tweeted.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also marked the occasion by calling the Vice President a “symbol of simplicity, purity and discipline.” In his post on X, he said, “Heartiest congratulations to Honourable Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar ji… I pray to Lord Shri Ram for your good health, long life and good health.”

As Jagdeep Dhankhar celebrates his 74th birthday, the nation joins in recognising his decades-long service in law, governance, and public life.
