President Murmu Hosts Singaporean President, Celebrates 60 Years of India-Singapore Ties

New Delhi, 17th Jan. President Droupadi Murmu hosted H.E. Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of Singapore, at Rashtrapati Bhavan today, marking a significant moment in India-Singapore relations. During the visit, both leaders celebrated the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties, unveiling a commemorative logo symbolizing the enduring partnership.

Welcoming President Shanmugaratnam and his delegation, President Murmu emphasized the robust relationship between the two nations, rooted in shared history, trust, and mutual respect. She noted the recent elevation of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the establishment of a Ministerial Roundtable dialogue mechanism covering diverse sectors, including advanced manufacturing, connectivity, digitalization, healthcare, skills development, and sustainability.

President Murmu highlighted Singapore’s pivotal role in India’s Act East Policy and vision for the Indo-Pacific region, underscoring shared democratic values as a strong bond between the countries.

Both leaders expressed optimism about the future, with President Murmu stating, “As India progresses towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy, the deepening India-Singapore partnership will deliver significant benefits to our peoples.”

The banquet hosted at Rashtrapati Bhavan symbolized the warmth and commitment to advancing ties between India and Singapore, as both nations look ahead to a prosperous and collaborative future.
