President Murmu Confers Six Kirti Chakras, 33 Shaurya Chakras for Gallantry

New Delhi, 23rd May: 
President Droupadi Murmu, the Supreme Commander of the armed forces, on Thursday conferred six Kirti Chakras, including four posthumously, and 33 Shaurya Chakras, including seven posthumously, to personnel of the Army, Central Armed Police Forces, and Jammu and Kashmir Police. These prestigious gallantry awards recognize indomitable courage and extraordinary valour displayed in the line of duty.

The Kirti Chakra, India’s second-highest peacetime gallantry award, was presented to:

Living Recipients:

  • Major Malla Rama Gopal Naidu of the Maratha Light Infantry, 56 Rashtriya Rifles
  • Major Manjit of the Punjab Regiment, 22 Rashtriya Rifles

Posthumous Recipients:

  • Colonel Manpreet Singh of the Sikh Light Infantry, 19 Rashtriya Rifles
  • Rifleman Ravi Kumar, The Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry, 63 Rashtriya Rifles
  • Naik Dilwar Khan, The Regiment of Artillery, 28 Rashtriya Rifles
  • Deputy Superintendent of Police Himayun Muzzammil Bhat of the Jammu and Kashmir Police

The awards were presented during a Defence Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, acknowledging the bravery and selflessness of the personnel in various operations, including counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency efforts.
