New Delhi, 5th March. A delegation of medical students and consultants from various medical colleges in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh visited President Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday.
The group is participating in the Sevankur Bharat Programme initiated by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Vaidyakiya Pratishthan.
During the meeting, President Murmu praised the longstanding efforts of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Vaidyakiya Pratishthan in providing affordable healthcare services to the underprivileged, alongside initiatives focusing on skill development, employment, and empowerment of Self-Help Groups (SHGs). She commended the NGO for its significant contribution to social service and nation-building.
Highlighting the Sevankur Bharat programme, inaugurated in 1997, President Murmu emphasized its role in promoting national unity and integrity, as well as instilling the spirit of public service among the youth. She particularly appreciated initiatives like the ‘During Vacation – One Week for Nation,’ where students engage in service activities in tribal areas.
President Murmu underscored the selfless essence of the healthcare profession, stressing the importance of prioritizing compassion, kindness, and philanthropy over monetary gain.
She encouraged individuals to draw inspiration from Babasaheb Ambedkar’s life and utilize personal success for societal welfare, advocating for social justice, equality, and fraternity in line with his ideals.
