Patna, 7th Jan. Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor was hospitalised on Tuesday due to dehydration and health complications following his hunger strike. He had been arrested and later released on bail a day earlier for staging an “illegal” fast unto death.

Kishor was taken to a private hospital in Patna in an ambulance after a doctor advised immediate medical attention. “He is suffering from infection, dehydration, and weakness. Comprehensive medical tests are required,” said the attending physician.

Despite his health concerns, Kishor stated before leaving for the hospital, “My fast unto death will continue.”

The police had detained Kishor early Monday morning after an FIR was lodged against him for violating a Patna High Court order prohibiting protests at Gandhi Maidan. Protests are permitted only at Gardani Bagh locality.

Kishor began his hunger strike on January 2 in support of civil service aspirants demanding the cancellation of Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exams held last month amid allegations of a question paper leak.
