PoK Training Camps Fuel Terror Surge in Jammu and Kashmir: Sources

GG News Bureau
New Delhi, 18th July. Amidst a surge in terror incidents across Jammu and Kashmir, alarming images reportedly from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) have emerged, suggesting Pakistan’s complicity in training militants for infiltration and terrorism in India. Sources indicate that the Pakistani army has established training camps in the Kotli area of PoK, where local residents are being instructed in weapon usage and warfare tactics.

Reports reveal that these camps are actively recruiting and grooming young men as potential terrorists, alongside ex-army personnel and commandos with prior terrorism training. Pictures purportedly showing Pakistani army personnel engaged in training activities further underscore the existence of these facilities.

The geographical challenges of the region, including numerous rivers and monsoon-swollen drains along the India-Pakistan border, provide strategic entry points for infiltrators into the Jammu division. The rugged, mountainous terrain offers natural cover and hinders drone surveillance, posing significant challenges to security forces tasked with monitoring and securing the area effectively.

Sources also highlight Pakistan’s alleged financing of terrorism, with reports indicating payments of at least Rs 1 lakh to trained terrorists entering India, equipped with sophisticated weaponry such as M4 rifles and Chinese armor-piercing bullets. Guides aiding infiltration reportedly receive payments ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000, while terrorists maintain communication through Samsung phones and Icom radio sets.

Security measures along the international border are intensified, with the Border Security Force (BSF) closely inspecting fences and tunnels used by infiltrators. Additionally, it is reported that terrorists provide financial support to Over Ground Workers (OGWs) in India, further complicating counter-terrorism efforts in the region.

The escalating infiltration attempts and coordinated terror activities have heightened tensions in Jammu and Kashmir, prompting intensified vigilance and security operations by Indian authorities to thwart Pakistan-backed terrorist activities.
