New Delhi, 24th Jan. Prominent podcaster Prakhar Gupta has alleged that IndiGo offered him a bribe of ₹6,000 to remove his social media complaints about a flight rescheduling issue.
Gupta, in a post on X, shared that IndiGo unexpectedly preponed his flight by 15 minutes, closed check-in counters, and compelled him to buy a new ticket. He criticized the airline’s ground staff for unprofessional behavior, including playing inappropriate private voice messages aloud while handling his grievance.
Highlighting inconsistencies, Gupta claimed he was initially informed of a ₹40,000 charge for rescheduling but was offered a “discounted” rate of ₹3,000 per passenger. He found the immediate 90% discount “suspicious.”
After his post gained traction online, Gupta accused IndiGo of attempting to bribe him to delete the post, stating, “No apology, either written or verbal, was issued.” He invited IndiGo’s CEO to address the matter on his podcast, offering to fly him first class.
IndiGo responded to the initial complaint, stating they were investigating the matter but have yet to address the bribery allegations. The dispute stems from a lack of proper communication regarding the flight schedule change, which Gupta claimed was conveyed through a text message just hours before the flight. He also called out the airline’s handling of check-in and ticket charges, accusing staff of avoiding accountability.
IndiGo has yet to provide a detailed response to Gupta’s allegations.
